About Us

This Guide was created by the Berkeley Mental Health Advocates
We strive to provide Berkeley youth with comprehensive mental health resources, targeting gaps in accessibility for underrepresented and marginalized groups such a people of color, low income, LGBTQ+, and undocumented youth. Mental health impacts thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. By learning healthy coping mechanisms, and ways in which you can improve your mental health, your outlook on life may improve drastically. This mental health guide is a starting point for those seeking care or to improve their overall well-being.


History
In response to a students death by suicide on April 18th 2022, and two deaths of Berkeley High students by gun violence on October 1st 2022, five Berkeley High School alumni have come together to advocate for the wellbeing and mental health needs of their community. In efforts to take action against the rising mental health epidemic amount youth across the world, this guide was compiled.

The Team
Our team is composed of 2022 graduates of Berkeley High School and a current student at BHS. We were unaware of the resources in the bay, and recognize how being aware of them could have bettered our experience at BHS. Our goal is to make these resources known so that future and current students can thrive.
